i have always been the person who was afraid of skincare because, as anyone else with sensitive skin knows, you can't just go TRYING things what if something TERRIBLE happens??? so i've been happy using the same products for decades (until they are suddenly discontinued without your consent, neutrogena)
and when you go to try to look things up i was like. no, this is overwhelming. what does all of that even MEAN. i would need to spend so much time to learn enough to make choices here! no thanks! i'll keep using the old stuff if it's "good enough!"
and i was so right!!!
i basically spent the last month putting myself through a four-week intensive course. i learned a ton of new vocabulary, economic factors, and science. just to be able to accurately judge the products i was thinking about putting on my face. this has literally been HOURS watching videos from beauty bloggers and dermatologists and aestheticians, but also a TON of reading, looking up products as they are mentioned, looking up the explanations on their ingredients, and learning to recognize key ingredients myself (vocabulary!!!!) this is insane
like i have found out why people make this their hobby and it is because there is SO MUCH stuff to learn it's impossible to learn it all without making it a fun hobby focus o_o;;;
luckily the main takeaway i have from it is: do you NEED any of this? ! NO! u can just keep using a cleanser that doesn't dry you out and a moisturizer that doesn't make you greasy. (however if you haven't found those, or you have concerns to address. oh boy. oof. there's so much information ur about to be besieged by. and literally if you just pick up the first week of the course and drop out you can get SO blindsided by side effects. it's rough out here lads.)

A Blind Path Home Masterlist

Steve Rogers x Reader
A/N: I obviously took some liberties with the storyline, but I tried keeping it as true as possible to the canon history. No beta used this time around, so excuse my mistakes.
Summary: It started with a blind date. A date you had skipped out on, but fate had led you right to the man you stood up. Steve Rogers, a man small in stature but big in heart. A chance meeting set everything in motion, but decades later when he is unfrozen, he has been told you have died. But when a mission to retrieve Hydra plans turned up some interesting information, Steve’s left to wonder whether you are still alive. Or is this all just false hope?

Unlock Radiant Youth: Why Gentinol Is Better Than Ordinary Retinol
Introduction:
Even if it’s normal to age, you can still age well. Our goal at Skin Jewells is to provide you with goods that will keep you looking young. Our most recent invention, the Fountain of Youth Retinol Concentrate with Vit C powered by Gentinol, is leading the way in accomplishing this. However, what distinguishes Gentinol from ordinary retinol, and why should you switch? Let’s examine the specifics.
The Revolution in Retinol
Retinol has long been heralded as a miracle ingredient in the skincare industry. Retinol, derived from vitamin A, encourages cell turnover, lessening the visibility of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. Because it is effective, it is a common ingredient in anti-aging products.
Presenting Gentinol: A Novel Approach to Skincare
Gentinol elevates skincare to a new level, even while retinol works. With 9–11% active content, gentinol is a high-potency skincare ingredient that is well-known for its remarkable heat stability and skin-friendly qualities because of the green tea catechin.
This innovative component has all the advantages of retinol plus some more. Gentinol is superior to ordinary retinol in the following ways:
Gently but Effective: Gentrol is a uniquely developed anti-aging product that is both mild on the skin and effective. Savor Gentinol’s revitalizing benefits without having to deal with the discomfort that occasionally accompanies other skincare compounds. All skin types, even sensitive skin, can use it.
Faster Results: Because of its sophisticated formulation, Gentinol works faster, allowing you to see improvements in the texture and tone of your skin sooner. Get a more young, glowing appearance faster.
Increased Stability: Because of its improved stability, genol is guaranteed to stay strong and efficient with every use. Gentinol constantly produces the best outcomes, in contrast to other substances that could lose their potency with time.
Suitable for Daily Use: Gentinol is simple to add to your skincare routine because of its gentle nature, which allows it to be used every day. Benefit from regular use without having to progressively increase usage.
Fountain of Youth Retinol Concentrate with Vitamin C: Its Power Skin Jewels’ Fountain of Youth Retinol Concentrate with Vit C is designed to maximize the benefits of gentinol. The best vitamin c serum improves skin hydration and elasticity while also smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, giving the complexion a plumper, firmer appearance.
Fountain of Youth Retinol Concentrate with Vitamin C: Why Choose It?
Gentinol-Powered Excellence: Gentinol, a state-of-the-art component that provides remarkable anti-aging benefits, is at the core of this sophisticated serum. Gentinol rejuvenates your skin by combining a special combination of substances such as Hydrogenated Lecithin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) Oil, Retinol, Sodium Ascorbate, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, and Aqua.
Gentle Yet Effective: Even for sensitive skin types, gentinol’s non-irritating qualities guarantee that you can enjoy its potent anti-aging effects with the best skin serum without experiencing any discomfort.
Gentinol and other carefully chosen components make up the fast-absorbing formula of this serum, which leaves your skin feeling nourished, smooth, and soft.    In conclusion Not every ingredient is made equal when it comes to anti-aging skincare products. While Gentinol is the next-generation answer for anyone seeking fast-acting, mild, and effective results, Retinol has earned its reputation as a skincare powerhouse.
We are pleased to present our Fountain of Youth Retinol Concentrate with Vit C at Skin Jewells, a product that represents the skincare of the future. Gentinol will help you say goodbye to discomfort and hello to glowing, youthful skin because you deserve the best.

Dermatologist Recommended Tips for Teenage Skin Care
We all know the importance of skincare routine in an individual's life. But the question arises at what age is it necessary to start a proper skincare routine? Beginning a routine when you're a teenager can allow you to develop good skincare habits that you'll keep as you age. Also, it's essential for preventing skin disorders like acne, breakouts and pimples.
Understanding Teenage Skin
Tumblr media
Your body goes through a number of transitions when you enter adolescence. Teenage skin is more resilient and persistent than child skin. It has plenty of collagen stored inside. But due to hormonal changes in teenagers, the sebaceous glands in the skin are stimulated to produce more oil and sebum. When this excess oil and hair follicles combine, blackheads and whiteheads form. The other skin issues that occur are outbreaks, acne and clogged pores. We will discuss in detail about common skin concerns during adolescence in the next section.
Common skin concerns during adolescence
Tumblr media
Some of the most common skin conditions that are prevalent in teenagers are:
1. Acne:Acne is the most common skin concern of any teen. It occurs when skin pores get clogged due to excess oil or sebum, trapping dead skin cells and forming pimples. The area gets red and inflamed and when bacteria goes deep into the skin, it results in formation of acne cysts and nodules. Teenage acne usually occurs on cheeks and forehead.
2.Eczema: Eczema is a medical term for itching, rashes, irritation and swelling of the skin. It is most commonly present on the face, elbows, knees, feet and hands. In teens, eczema could occur when they play rough games or wear any sport equipment.
3.Sunburn: Teenagers are at a high risk of sunburn as they spend a lot of time playing outdoor games. Sunburns occur due to overexposure of sunlight. Therefore, teenagers should apply sunscreen to reduce this effect and protect their skin from sun damage.
4.Excessive sweating: Everyone sweats when the body regulates its temperature. However, teens experience more sweating than others, especially on the face, underarms, palms and feet.
Factors affecting teenage skin health
Tumblr media
There are several factors that influence skin health of a teenager. Some of them are:
Diet
Teenagers usually like to have foods rich in fats, sugar and carbohydrates. With the intake of these foods, issues like acne, pimples and oily skin prevails among teens. Therefore, dermatologists recommend having a balanced diet to keep skin healthy. Take more vegetables, proteins and antioxidant rich food items. Also, it is important to drink plenty of water.
Hormonal changes
During puberty, teenagers usually experience hormonal changes. The levels of testosterone rises in males and females start their menstrual cycle. Therefore, the levels of hormones fluctuate that affect the moisture balance of skin. Thus, leading to more acne and oiliness on the face.
Sunlight
Teenagers spend the majority of their time playing outside in the sun. The rays of sun may cause serious skin damage, sunburn and sun spots. Therefore, dermatologists advised to apply sunscreen whenever the children go outside to play.
Stress
Teenagers usually deal with peer pressure and stress related to their studies and career. Dermatologists say that stress could worsen the acne among teens and trigger more production of sebum in the skin. Therefore, it is advised to practice meditation, yoga and do exercise to manage stress.
Tips for Teenage Skin Care Routine
Tumblr media
Teenagers should follow a proper skin care routine to keep their skin free from acne and other issues. Here are some skincare tips for keeping the skin of teen healthy and glowing:
Step 1: Cleansing
To wash your face, use a gentle cleanser that suits your skin. Avoid vigorous scrubbing, instead, use soft circular motions to thoroughly clean your face. Cleansing helps in removing dirt from pores of skin and also reduces oil production. Thus, leading to less acne and pimples. It is advised by dermatologists that teenagers should not use soaps on their face as it might cause irritation to the skin and may worsen acne

Step 2: Moisturising
Dermatologists recommend moisturising your skin twice a day to keep it hydrated and supple. Teenagers face the problem of oily skin, therefore apply an oil-free moisturiser to avoid clogging of the pores.

Step 3: Sun Protection
As teenagers are fond of playing outdoor activities, dermatologists advise to use a broad spectrum sunscreen with a SPF more than 30. Also, use a non-oily and non-greasy sunscreen for your skin due to oiliness present in the skin itself. This will protect your skin from UV rays of the sun.

Step 4: Acne Treatment
Acne may occur at any age, but teens are more likely to have acne breakouts due to changes in the hormones. Also, they eat lots of sugary and oily food which may trigger acne and worsen the situation. You may use benzoyl peroxide creams and gels that are applied directly on the affected area.
You may use Kosmoderma Acne & Blemish Control Serum that helps in unclogging the pores and diminishes whiteheads, blackheads. The serum is a unique mix of botanical ingredients that helps in curing acne breakouts. It also soothes the skin by preventing irritation caused due to acne.
Other Dermatologist Recommended Tips
Apart from following a proper skincare regime, dermatologists recommend some other tips too that may be followed by teenagers to help keep their skin healthy:
Dietary recommendations for healthy skin
Tumblr media
At any age, eating healthy is vital, but teenagers need to pay particular attention to this. As your body is still growing, you must consume nutritious food like fruits, green leafy vegetables, eggs, nuts, legumes and grains that provide a healthy skin. The skin of teenagers is affected by food items like chocolate, junk food and other sugary drinks. Therefore, try to eat less of these processed foods.
Lifestyle modifications for healthy skin
Acne problem is the most common one in teenagers. Therefore, it is recommended not to pick or pop pimples on your face as it may lead to scarring and also take pimples longer to heal. Also, manage stress by practising yoga and meditation as stress may worsen your skin issues. Furthermore, wash or change the bedsheets and pillowcases frequently as dirty ones may clog your pores of skin, leading to breakouts.
Importance of Seeking Professional Help for Persistent Skin Concerns
Tumblr media
If your acne persists after taking precautions, then it is time to talk to a dermatologist. They will offer you a range of treatments that will heal your acne scars, reduce itchiness and prevent further spread. They will look at your skin type and provide the solutions accordingly. Also, they will give you useful tips on how to deal with teenage skin problems.
Conclusion
Practising a proper skincare routine in the early stage is crucial for maintaining a healthy teen skin. Teenagers are more prone to breakouts due to stress and changing hormones. By following the tips mentioned in the blog, a teen may keep their skin glowing.

I forget why, but I was on the Wikipedia page for polycystic ovarian syndrome, and I started researching hirsutism in women, and I learned the following things in this order:
there's a diagnostic criteria used to evaluate how hairy a woman is
This is important because being too hairy is a diagnostic criteria of most disorders that cause hyperandrogenism
Disorders that cause hyperandrogenism can be diagnosed by...measuring how hairy you are (this is the main and most important diagnostic criterion for PCOS)
Disorders that cause hyperandrogenism are important because they are correlated with obesity, infertility, and...being too hairy?
I think to myself, wait, what is a normal range for testosterone in women? I find this article...which set reference ranges for "normal" testosterone levels in women...EXCLUDING WOMEN WITH PCOS?
Quote: "Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is another notable condition in genetic (XX) females, which is characterized by excessive ovarian production of androgens. This condition is included for comparison with DSD, as the affected females with PCOS are genetic and phenotypic females. The elevated levels of testosterone in these females can lead to hyperandrogenism, a clinical disorder characterized variably by hirsutism, acne, male-pattern balding, metabolic disturbances, impaired ovulation and infertility. PCOS is a common condition, affecting 7%-10% of premenopausal women."
So: the study claims to demonstrate a clear distinction between the normal range of hormone levels in "Healthy" men and "healthy" women...with "healthy" being defined in the study as...having hormones within the "normal" range.......................
So I researched what the clinically established "normal" range for testosterone in women is
THERE ISN'T ONE????
Quote from the above article: "Several different approaches have been used to define endocrine disorders. The statistical approach establishes the lower and the upper limits of hormone concentrations solely on the basis of the statistical distribution of hormone levels in a healthy reference population. As an illustration, hypo- and hypercalcemia have been defined on the basis of the statistical distribution of serum calcium concentrations. Using this approach, androgen deficiency could be defined as the occurrence of serum testosterone levels that are below the 97.5th percentile of testosterone levels in healthy population of young men. A second approach is to use a threshold hormone concentration below or above which there is high risk of developing adverse health outcomes. This approach has been used to define osteoporosis and hypercholesterolemia. However, we do not know with certainty the thresholds of testosterone levels which are associated with adverse health outcomes."
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
It's batshit crazy to make a diagnostic criteria for medical disorders by placing arbitrary cutoffs within 2-5% of either end of a statistical distribution. What the actual fuck?
"The results came back, you have Statistical Outlier Disease." "What treatments are available?" "Well, first, we recommend dietary change. You should probably stop eating so many spiders."
Another article which attempted to do this
Quote: "Subjects with signs of hirsutism or with a personal history of diabetes or hypertension, or a family history of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) were excluded."
"We're going to figure out the typical range of testosterone levels that occur in women! First, we're going to exclude all the women that are too hairy from the study. I am very good at science."
Anyway I got off topic but there are apparently race-specific diagnostic tools for "hirsutism." That's kinda weird on its own but when I looked more into this in relation to race I found this article that straight-up uses the term "mongoloid"
